There are many mythical stories behind today’s auspecious occasion. It is said that today Goddess Laxmiji herself visits the houses of her devotees and if she likes the place, she decides to stay foreever.
To welcome Devi Laxmiji people today cleans their houses, decorate them with diya, rangoli and other stuffs, cook sweets, worship Laxmiji and pray to bless them with good wealth that lasts long.
I too have decorated my nails with Holy feets of Devi Laxmi, Shubh (Goodness), Lotus (symbol of Devi Laxmi) with a symbol of Indian Rupeess… ;-)(lol ), Labh (Benefits), and Swastik (symbol of education).
